2009 Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival: Dockside opening ceremony

The races begin around 9AM but are officially opened by a ceremony at noon on the first day. A dance troop from Taiwan performed before the master of ceremonies introduced a series of speakers. Then there was a ribbon cutting and an eye dotting ceremony.

Members of the Kao Hsiung Ro Han Men Cultural Troop.



More troop members, they performed the Sung-Jiang Battle Array.

Jason C Yuan, Representative, Taipe Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States. The office is a major sponsor of the Festival.

These girls are festival volunteers. They are holding the ceremonial ribbon which was cut to officially open the festival.
