2010 Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival Photos: Positioning Boats for the Races
I was in a spot for a lot of my photos where I had a very good view of the boats approaching the starting line. I had a camera, on a tripod, and so I shot photos. Many are on the dragon boat team portrait page, but some more are here.

The red boat is going back to the dock after its race is over, while the blue boat has just left the dock and is heading toward the start line for its race.

The Mason Dragons paddling team practices in the blue dragon boat on their way to the start line. Many of the teams get only limited practice before the race and use the line up time as an final practice session.

The green dragon boat nears the dock as it returns from a race. The red boat with the Hua Fu youth team is visible behind it, and further on, teams embarking and disembarking at the Thompson Boat House docks.
